
TCU Scholar Athletes of the Month

Kianna Ray, a sophomore strategic communications major, helped lead TCU women's basketball to a 7-1 record in January. She led the Frogs in assists with 3.8 per game as TCU won seven straight games and earned its first top-25 ranking since 2010. The Austin, Tex. native scored a career-high 17 points in TCU's upset of No. 7 Texas on Jan. 10, including making the game-winning free throws in the final 10 seconds of the 79-77 win. Overall, she averaged 9.0 points per game in January.
Ray and the No. 24 Horned Frogs host No. 22 Oklahoma State on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Schollmaier Arena.
Stalder, a junior communication studies major, helped lead TCU men's tennis to a 3-1 record in January with wins over Abilene Christian, Arizona State, and Louisville. During that stretch he went 3-1 in singles and 4-0 in doubles with Bertus Kruger. The Costa Mesa, Calif. native recorded three golden sets, including a golden match against ACU in the home opener on January 18.
Stalder and the No. 16 Horned Frogs hit the road for a matchup with No. 3 North Carolina on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. in Chapel Hill.
In order to be considered for TCU Scholar Athlete of the Month, a student athlete must have at least a 3.0 GPA and make significant contributions to his/her team in competition.
