Sophomore Ella Hellessey (Environmental Science) and sophomore Kianna Ray (Strategic Communications) were first-team selections. Sophomore Adeola Akomolafe (Movement Science) and junior Amy Okonkwo (Sport Psychology) were both second-team selections.
First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence, but are eligible for the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team which is announced in June.
The honor is the third for Akomolafe who was a first-team selection last season and a rookie-team pick in 2016. Hellessey, Okonkwo and Ray all earned their second career selections. Okonkwo was a first-tem pick last season while Hellessey and Ray were named to the rookie team.
TCU has now earned 19 Academic All-Big 12 honors in Raegan Pebley's four seasons as head coach, including eight first-team selections.
The Frogs return to the court on Saturday when they host Kansas State at 2 p.m. in their annual #Play4Kay game. The Frogs will wear pink uniforms and help raise awareness in the fight against women's cancers.
