IRVING, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference has announced TCU linebacker Jawuan Johnson as its Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 31-24 win over Oklahoma State.
A graduate student, Johnson had a career-best and team-high 12 tackles, including one for a loss, while adding a 15-yard fumble return for a touchdown on the first play of the second half.
Playing without four injured defensive starters, TCU held Oklahoma State to 280 yards of total offense. The Cowboys entered the game ninth in the nation at 520.0 yards per game.
The Horned Frogs are bowl bound for the 16th time in Gary Patterson's 18 seasons as head coach.
