
Preview: Big 12 Match Play Tournament

FORT WORTH, Texas – After a weekend away from competition, the TCU men's golf team will play in the inaugural Big 12 Match Play Tournament starting Friday at The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas.
The Big 12 is the first conference to host its own match play tournament, utilizing the format that determines the NCAA men's golf national champion.
Teams are ranked and seeded 1-10 based on the squads' combined Golfweek/Sagarin and Golfstat rankings entering the tournament. TCU is seeded fifth and will play fourth-seeded Kansas on Friday beginning at 8 a.m. The second sessions begin at 1:30 p.m.
The event will be played over three days consisting of pool play for five sessions followed by a championship round Sunday afternoon. Match play will be conducted during all rounds.
During the pool play portion, each team will play four matches. Teams will get three points for a win and one point for a draw. At the conclusion of pool play, each team will be ranked 1-5 within their pool based on the amount of points accrued. Pool play will be broken up into two sessions.
The championship match will feature the team with the highest point total from Pool A and the team with the highest point total from Pool B.
TCU is taking seven individuals to Hockley with only six competing in each session. Those individuals are Alejandro Aguilera, Triston Fisher, Turner MacLean, Pierre Mazier and Stefano Mazzoli, David Ravetto and Hayden Springer.

LAST TIME OUT
Mazzoli tied for fifth at the Nike Collegiate Invitational, the best a Horned Frog had ever finished at the prestigious event. The senior shot 2-under 208 for the tournament. In a field that featured nine of the nation's top 25 teams, TCU finished tied for 12th.

Turner MacLean (Senior – Fort Worth) – Finished tied for 19th at The Carmel Cup in the opener at 4-under 212 at Pebble Beach… Two-time Academic All-Big 12… Posted a career-best season average of 72.62 last season.
Pierre Mazier (Senior – Saint-Raphael, France) – Tied for 52nd at the Nike Golf Collegiate this season… Finished with a scoring average of 73.24 last season.
