At the conclusion of the tournament, the Technical Study Group named her the top goalkeeper of the tournament. Additionally, she was presented with the Golden Glove Award presented by Allstate.
She appeared in four of the five games played in the tournament by Mexico and allowed just four goals.
In the championship game, Alvarado was huge for Mexico as she made two stops in penalty kicks to help Mexico to a 4-2 shootout win over the four-time defending champion United States. That came on the heels of a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes of play.
U20 Championship Game Highlights
FORT WORTH – TCU freshman goalkeeper Emily Alvarado was instrumental in helping Mexico to the 2018 CONCACAF under 20 women´s championship played in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.At the conclusion of the tournament, the Technical Study Group named her the top goalkeeper of the tournament.
