
Rifle Closes Regular Season With Victory

Jan. 29, 2018 FORT WORTH - For the first time in program history, the TCU women's rifle team completed the regular season having fired a 4,700 or better in every match. At UTEP, TCU topped the field of three with a score of 4,709, besting Jacksonville State (4,646) and the host school (4,611).
TCU produced the top three individual scores in both disciplines. In air rifle, the Horned Frogs fired a team score of 2,380, a mark that is tied for the fifth-best in program history. In smallbore, TCU shot a 2,329.
Rachel Garner (598) and Casey Lutz (597) each fired career-highs in air rifle. Elizabeth Marsh finished second with a score of 597. Catherine Miller took home a sixth place finish after shooting a 588. Ariana Grabowski rounded out the Frogs in the top 10 with a ninth place score of 583.
In smallbore, Garner once again paced the field after shooting a 587. Marsh posted a second place showing after firing a 583. Grabowski rounded out the top three with a 583. Lutz finished sixth and Miller seventh with identical marks of 576.
Garner matched her career high aggregate score with a mark of 1,185 to finish first in the competition.
TCU will begin postseason play Feb. 3 at the Patriot Rifle Conference championships hosted by Air Force.
