
Frogs Open Season at Pebble Beach

FORT WORTH, Texas -- For the fifth time in six years, the TCU men's golf team will open the season at one of the most beautiful courses in the world when it competes at The Carmel Cup starting Friday.
Pebble Beach Golf Links, home to five U.S. Open Championships and will also host in 2019, will once again play host to The Carmel Cup. Started six years ago by TCU alum Fin Ewing, The Carmel Cup features eight of the top teams in collegiate golf including five ranked in the Bushnell Golfweek Preseason Coaches Poll. The field includes four Big 12 Conference teams, including No. 1 Oklahoma State and defending national champion No. 3 Oklahoma.
The six individuals that will travel to Carmel, Calif., are returners Triston Fisher, Turner MacLean, Pierre Mazier and Stefano Mazzoli and newcomers David Ravetto and Hayden Springer. The top five finishers will count towards the team score.
TCU will tee off beginning at 9 a.m. CT on Friday. The three-round tournament concludes on Sunday.

Since 1919, golfers from around the world have dreamed of playing Pebble Beach Golf Links, rated the greatest public golf course in America by Golf Digest for 13 consecutive years. It's par 3 No. 7 hole is known as the most famous short par-3 in all of golf. The prestige of Pebble Beach can be summed up best by the fact that when Jack Nicklaus said that if he only had one more round to play, it would be Pebble Beach Golf Links.

TCU at The Carmel Cup
TCU won the event in 2012 behind Julien Brun's individual championship. The Frogs were third in 2014 and sixth in 2015. TCU was seventh last season at 2-under 358. Chelso Barrett led the team and tied for eighth place at 7-under-par.
New Season
TCU returns four individuals from the five-man lineup that competed at the NCAA Regional last spring, the 28th consecutive for the program. Triston Fisher (Southlake), Turner MacLean (Fort Worth), Pierre Mazier (France) and Stefano Mazzoli (Italy) are all juniors this season. The Frogs also return junior Daniel Gurtner (Guatemala).
TCU welcomes three newcomers this season. Sophomore Trevor Brown (Austin) is a transfer from Rice and tied for 12th at last season's Conference USA Championship. Junior David Ravetto (France) transferred to TCU in the summer and is a former NAIA National Champion at Texas Wesleyan. Junior Hayden Springer (Trophy Club) transferred from Texas Tech and was one of four amateurs to qualify for the PGA FedEx St. Jude Classic last season.

Pierre Mazier (Junior -- Saint-Raphael, France) -- Making his third appearance at Pebble Beach... Best round at the famed course was last season with a 72 in the second round... Finished with a scoring average of 72.75 last season.
Stefano Mazzoli (Junior -- Moforfano, Italy) -- Shot 1-over 217 last season at Pebble Beach and posted a 69 in the final round... Posted a scoring average of 73.78 last season.
David Ravetto (Junior -- Paris, France) -- Playing at Pebble Beach for the first time... NAIA Individual Champion for Texas Wesleyan as a freshman in 2015... Transferred from Texas Wesleyan in the summer.
