
TCU Underway in NCAA Regional

LUBBOCK, Texas – Making its 21st NCAA Regional appearance in 22 years, the TCU women's golf team ended the first round in 15th place Monday in Lubbock.
Junior Emmy Martin led the Frogs after shooting 3-over 75. The All-Big 12 Conference member had a birdie on the par-4 18th hole, and is tied for 26th place. Martin is eight shots back of the leader, Lilia Vu of UCLA (4-under 68).
Martin is one stroke ahead of teammate Brooke McDougald, who shot 4-over 76 and is tied for 36th place. The sophomore from The Woodlands, Texas, recorded three birdies, including back-to-back on holes 17 and 18.
Sophomore Annika Clark, a member of the Big 12 All-Tournament Team, shot 6-over 78 and is tied for 61st. Senior Kelly McGovern used three birdies to shoot 7-over 79 and is tied for 69th place. Junior Tiffany Breitenwischer shot 11-over 83 to finish the first round tied for 87th place.
Arizona State stands atop the team standings after a 5-over 293. TCU was 20-over 308.
The top-six teams will move on to the NCAA Championships, May 19-24 in Sugar Grove, Ill. The top-three individuals from schools not advancing will also qualify for the NCAA Championships.
TCU tees off in the second round with Oregon State and Murray State at 9 AM on Tuesday.
