FORT WORTH - The NCAA Baseball Regional brackets were announced Monday on ESPN2. The TCU Horned Frogs, tabbed the No. 6 National Seed, will be hosting their seventh regional in program history. The Frogs are back in the regionals for the 13th time in the last 14 years. They will face the region's four-seed, Central Connecticut State on Friday night at 8 at Lupton Stadium on ESPN3.
The other game in the Fort Worth Regional will see No. 3 Dallas Baptist versus No. 2 Virginia Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. on ESPNU. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday, June 2 and run through Monday.
This is the Frogs' 15th overall trip to the regionals. The previous 14 trips came in 1956, 1994, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016. TCU is one of just nine teams nationally to play in 13 of the last 14 regionals. The Horned Frogs are one of just five schools to serve as a host for the fourth consecutive season.
The winner of the Fort Worth Regional will play the winner of the Fayetteville (Arkansas) Regional in the Super Regionals. The four teams in that region include, the host school, Missouri State, Oklahoma State and Oral Roberts.
The Big 12 earned seven bids to the tournament. Texas was tabbed a No. 2 seed in the Long Beach Regional, Baylor is a No. 2 seed in the Houston Regional, Oklahoma is a No. 2 seed in the Louisville Regional, Oklahoma State is the No. 3 seed at the Fayetteville (Arkansas) Regional, and West Virginia is a No. 2 seed at the Wake Forest Regional. Texas Tech, one of two Big 12 hosts, was tabbed the No. 5 National Seed.
