
TCU Comes Up Short Tuesday Night

FORT WORTH – Stephen F. Austin used a four-run, two-out rally in the third inning to build a 5-0 lead en route to handing No. 4 TCU a 6-2 loss on Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium.
The Rundown
The Lumberjacks opened up a 1-0 lead in the second after loading the bases on a pair of hits and walk with nobody out. TCU starter Charles King (0-1) minimized the damage with a double play ball and a strikeout.
After quickly retiring the first two batters in the third, a walk started a string of four straight Lumberjacks to reach. Zac Michener doubled home two runs and scored on a two-run home run from Josh Evans. SFA tacked on an unearned run in the seventh inning to build a six-run cushion, 6-0.
TCU picked up its only two runs in the game in the bottom of the seventh. Ryan Merrill beat out an infield single and moved to second on a walk to Elliott Barzilli. Austen Wade launched a double to right center to make it a 6-2 ballgame.
King took the loss after allowing three runs on three hits in 2 2/3 innings. Jake Eissler worked 3 1/3 innings, striking out six and allowing a pair of runs on three hits. Haylen Green and Austin Boyles each worked a 1-2-3 inning with a pair of strikeouts.
