FORT WORTH, Texas - Riding a five-match winning streak, the No. 19 TCU men's tennis team returns continues its home stand at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center by welcoming another top-25 opponent in No. 8 Texas A&M on Monday, March 27.
The Horned Frogs (10-4) and the Aggies (14-3) will square off at 5:30 p.m. Admission to the match is free and fans can enjoy free pizza courtesy of Buffalo Bros., between the doubles and singles portion of the match. There will also be a prize court courtesy of the match sponsors -Smoothie King and Salsa Limon.
TCU Notables
After starting the season 2-2, TCU has won eight of its last 10 matches including a victory in the last five straight matches. Coming off a 4-0 showing in its California spring break road trip, the Frogs bested No. 25 Illinois 5-2 on Wednesday to up its winning streak.
Cameron Norrie moved up to No. 3 in the latest Oracle/ITA singles poll to lead TCU and is 10-1 on the season and 8-1 against ranked opponents. Alex Rybakov checks in at No. 27 and is riding a team-best 12-match winning streak in singles action with five wins over ranked foes. Guillermo Nuñez and Jerry Lopez round out the singles rankings at No. 78 and No. 81, respectively.
In doubles action, TCU has won the doubles point in 11 matches this season and has three ranked doubles teams. Trevor Johnson and Reese Stalder lead the way at No. 17, while Nuñez and Rybakov check it at No. 21 with a team-best 10 wins this season. Stalder also sits in the doubles poll with Lopez at No. 38.
Scouting the Aggies
Texas A&M enters Monday's match on a 13-match winning streak after picking up a 5-2 victory over LSU. Arthur Rinderknech continues to be ranked amongst the best in the country, coming in at No. 12 in the latest singles poll. The junior owns a 20-6 record this year, with a 11-3 mark in dual matches. AJ Catanzariti earned the No. 116 ranking in the latest poll after claiming a career-best triumph over then-No. 25 Ryotaro Matsumura of Kentucky to help the Aggies continue their win streak. Jordi Arconada is riding a 12-match winning streak to rank No. 119 in the latest ITA poll. The Buenos Aries native, holds a 14-3 record overall including a 12-1 dual match tally.
All-Time Series Records
TCU and Texas A&M will be facing each other for the 57th time in program history as the Frogs hold a 37-19 overall advantage in the series record. The last three meetings have gone TCU's way including a 4-3 victory last season. Before the last three victories by the Frogs, Texas A&M had taken eight straight wins dating back to 2007. Monday's match marks the 21st time in program history that the two teams will be facing off in Fort Worth as TCU owns a 13-7 overall record in matches played on the Bernard J. `Tut' Bartzen Varsity Courts.
