The Rundown
UC Irvine sent 13 men to the plate in the first inning and eight came around to score before it was all said and down. With the bases loaded and one out, six straight Anteaters tallied a hit. The big blow was a bases-clearing triple from Christian Kloss.
TCU cracked the scoreboard in the fourth, picking up a run on two hits. Evan Skoug opened the inning with a walk and moved to third on a base hit by Josh Watson. Nolan Brown grounded out to drive in the first run of the inning. Cam Warner beat out an infield single to make it an 8-2 ballgame.
The Anteaters got a run back in the fifth on back-to-back doubles to open the inning. Two more runs crossed in the sixth as the lead grew to nine.
Jake Eissler gave the Frogs five solid innings in relief of Brian Howard (2-2). Haylen Green and Cal Coughlin pitched the final 2 2/3 innings, holding UC Irvine to just two hits and striking out a combined five.
