FORT WORTH, Texas - After almost two weeks off, the TCU men's tennis team will return to action on Feb. 25 as they are set to host No. 48 UCF for a 1 p.m., showdown at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
Admission to the match on Saturday against the Horned Frogs (3-3) and the Knights (6-1) is free and fans can enjoy free pizza courtesy of Buffalo Bros., between the doubles and singles portion of the match. There will also be a prize court courtesy of the match sponsors - King Korn and Smoothie King. Fans will also have a chance to enter a free raffle to win one of two $100 lululemon gift cards.
TCU Notables
TCU was last in action almost two weeks ago when they traveled to New York to face then-No. 19 Columbia. The Frogs dropped a tough 4-3 decision and now sit at 3-3 on the year.
After defeating his third straight ranked opponent, Cameron Norrie moved up to No. 19 in the Oracle/ITA singles poll while Guillermo Nuñez sits at No. 112 with a 3-2 dual match record this spring. The Frogs have two top-15 ranked doubles teams with Trevor Johnson and Reese Stalder checking in at No. 10, while Nuñez and Alex Rybakov sit at No. 14 after winning five straight matches and defeating one ranked opponent.
Scouting the Knights
UCF enters the match with a 6-1 record and is coming off two 6-1 wins last weekend over Tennessee Tech and Florida Atlantic. They are also ranked No. 48 in the most recent Oracle/ITA team rankings and have downed one ranked opponent in then-No. 23 Texas Tech on Jan. 14. The Knights have one ranked singles player in No. 93 Korey Lovett who is 6-1 at the No. 1 position. Chris Barrus was named AAC Player of the Week on Tuesday as he is a perfect 6-0 in singles this season and 4-1 in doubles action with Enrique Paya.
All-Time Series Records
TCU and UCF will be meeting up for only the second time in program history and second year in a row. The Frogs picked up a 7-0 sweep in the first meeting last year in Orlando, Fla., and this will mark the first time the teams have faced each other in Fort Worth.
