
TCU Women Travel to West Virginia

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's basketball team is nearing the end of its regular season as the Frogs travel to take on West Virginia at WVU Coliseum on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. CT.
TCU (12-14, 4-11) is coming off of a tough loss to No. 24 Kansas State at home on Saturday and has lost three straight. West Virginia (18-9, 6-9) defeated K-State one week ago, but most recently lost at Iowa State on Saturday.
With three regular season games remaining, TCU sits in a three-way tie for seventh in the Big 12 standings with Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. That trio is two games back of West Virginia and Iowa State who are tied for fifth and in position to grab the final two of six first-round byes at next month's Big 12 Championships.

Last Time Out
TCU led for most of the game, but a cold second half eventually caught up to it as No. 24 Kansas State grabbed a 68-65 win inside Schollmaier Arena on Saturday.
TCU played its annual Play4Kay game and wore pink uniforms. The Frogs were hot early and led by as many as 13 points late in the second quarter. Kansas State, however, began to chip away in the second half and eventually took its first lead with under two minutes to go in the game.
Amy Okonkwo led the Frogs with a career-high 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. She added 10 rebounds as TCU outrebounded the Wildcats, one of the taller teams in the Big 12. Amber Ramirez added 12 points for TCU.
Scouting West Virginia
West Virginia lost at Iowa State on Saturday, 68-53, in its most recent game. However, prior to that the Mountaineers won a pair of home games over Oklahoma State and Kansas State.
After the loss to Iowa State, WVU sits in a tie with the Cyclones for fifth place in the Big 12 standings with ISU holding the tiebreaker thanks to its sweep of WVU.
The Mountaineers are led in scoring by Tynice Martin who is averaging 17.5 points per game. Lanay Montgomery leads the Big 12 with 3.0 blocks per game while Chania Ray leads the league with 5.9 assists per game. They are third and fourth on the roster in scoring, respectively, trailing Martin and Teana Muldrow who averages 14.2 points.
The Series
West Virginia leads the all-time series, 11-1, over TCU. The Frogs lone win came at home in 2014-15, Raegan Pebley's first season.
WVU won this season's first meeting, 83-61, in Fort Worth back on Dec. 29 in each team's first Big 12 game.
TCU has never won in Morgantown in four tries. The first three meetings were all decided by single digits with last season's being decided by 11 points, 83-72.
Five Points
1) TCU is shooting 37.7 percent from 3-point range this season, the 17th best mark in the NCAA. The Frogs are averaging 7.7 makes from long range per game, ranking second in the Big 12.
2) The Frogs have also been shooting well from the free throw line where they are shooting 77.1 percent as a team in Big 12 play. TCU has made 70.0 percent or better in 13 of 15 Big 12 games, including 75.0 percent or better in 10 of those games.
3) AJ Alix is TCU's leading scorer at 13.0 points per game, with that number even higher at 15.1 per game in Big 12 play, ranking fifth in the league. Alix also ranks sixth in the Big 12 with 4.5 assists per game.
4) In February, Alix is averaging 18.2 points and 5.2 assists per game with just eight total turnovers.
5) Alix leads a TCU team that averages 15.9 assists per game, ranking third in the Big 12. The Frogs assist on 64.0 percent of their baskets, rankings second in the league.

The Frogs return home to host Oklahoma on Saturday at 7 p.m. inside Schollmaier Arena. It will be Senior Night as the Frogs will honor Jada Butts and Carol Willie after their final regular season home game. TCU will then close its regular season at Texas Tech on Monday.
