
Frogs Continue Season in California

FORT WORTH, Texas – Two weeks removed from an 11th place finish among the nation's best teams in Hawaii, the TCU men's golf team will compete in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, Calif., starting on Friday.
The Frogs will go with the lineup of senior Chelso Barrett, senior Giulio Castagnara, sophomore Triston Fisher, sophomore Stefano Mazzoli and sophomore Pierre Mazier.
Sophomore Jason Fitzgerald and sophomore Turner MacLean will compete as individuals.
How to Follow
Each of the three rounds will begin at 7:00 a.m. PST/9:00 a.m. CST starting with the first round on Friday and ending with the third round on Sunday. Live scoring can be found at Golfstat.com. GoFrogs.com will have full recaps after each day of competition.
The Course
The Classic Club is a par 72 course and will be played from the back tees, which reads 7,322 yards. This nationally recognized championship course designed by Arnold Palmer and a host site of the 2006, 2007, and 2008 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, creates a new spin on desert golf with rolling terrain, wide landing areas, 30 acres of water features, 14 bridges as well as an abundance of pine trees, pine straw ground cover with five sets of tees on each hole.
The Field
The 22-team field features defending national champion and No. 10 ranked Oregon as well as the champion of the Amer Ari Invitational and Big 12 foe, No. 5 Texas Tech. Last Time Out
The Frogs are coming off an 11th place finish at the Amer Ari Invitational on Feb. 4 in Waikoloa, Hawaii. The 21-team field was loaded with top teams as eight were ranked in the top 25 national rankings. Sophomore Pierre Mazier was TCU's top finisher, tied for 13th place with a career-best 8-under 208 for the tournament. He shot a career-best 4-under 68 in the final round to move up from 26th at the start of the day.
Sophomore Stefano Mazzoli was the Frogs' second finisher at 3-under 213 for 33rd place. TCU Lineup
Chelso Barrett (Sr.) – Was TCU's third finisher in the spring opener, the Ameri Ari Tournament; finished in top 15 in first three tournaments in the fall; 2016 PING All-America Honorable Mention; finished 13th at 2016 NCAA Championships
Giulio Castagnara (Sr.) – Shot a 5-over 221 and placed 75th at the Ameri Ari Tournament; made season debut at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate and finished 85th (+19); played in 12 tournaments in 2015-16 with five top-20 finishes; Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar; has already earned his bachelor's degree from TCU after graduating in May with a degree in economics and a minor in business
Triston Fisher (So.) – Played in three tournaments this season, including the spring opener at the Ameri Ari Tournament; shot a career-best 4-over 219 at the Nike Collegiate Invitational as a freshman; Played in five tournaments as a freshman
Stefano Mazzoli (So.) – Tied a season-low with a 3-under 213 in the spring opener at the Amer Ari Invitational and finished tied for 33rd place and had a career-low opening round score of 65; Finished 28th at Nike Collegiate Invitational; won USF Olympic Invitational at The Olympic Club for first career win; was the only current college player in the 2016 Open Championship field
Pierre Mazier (So.) – Was TCU's top finisher at the Ameri Ari Tournament with a score of 8-under 208 to finish in 13th place; Shot under 70 for the first time in his career and did so two times at the Ameri Ari Tournament with a 69 in the second round and a career-low 68 in the final round; Placed 45th (+8) at the Carmel Cup, TCU's fall opener
