Oct. 23, 2017 IRVING, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference has announced TCU's KaVontae Turpin as its Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in Saturday's win over Kansas.
Turpin had a 90-yard punt return for a touchdown. It equaled the second-longest in TCU history. It was the third punt return of his career, enabling him to tie Linzy Cole (1968-69) and Blanard Spearman (1930-32) for the most all-time by a Horned Frog.
Turpin tops the Big 12 and is seventh nationally with his 16.3-yard average on punt returns.
It's the third time in Turpin's career that he's been named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week. The junior from Monroe, La., is also TCU's leading receiver this season with 23 catches.
No. 4 TCU is at No. 25 Iowa State Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on ABC/ESPN2.
