
TCU Men's Golf Travels to Pebble Beach

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- The TCU men's golf team will open its 2016-17 season at one of the world's most famous venues when the Frogs play in the Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach Golf Links, beginning on Friday.
The three-round tournament will conclude on Sunday, and addition to playing a tough golf course, TCU will be part of a loaded eight-team field that includes four top-10 teams and seven top-40 teams.

TCU will be in groups with Ohio State, Arkansas and Oklahoma State. The first golfer will tee off at 9 a.m. CT on Friday with the rest to follow in 10-minute intervals. Second and third round tee times will be determined based on standings after the previous day's round.
The Course
In the world of golf it doesn't get much better than the 6,828 yard, par-72 Pebble Beach Golf Links. Located along Carmel Bay on California's Pacific Ocean coastline, Pebble Beach has hosted five U.S. Opens, a PGA Championship and annually the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
The Field
The eight-team field features four teams in the Golfweek Coaches Poll top 10, seven teams that finished in the top 40 in Golfstat's final 2016 rankings and six teams that played in the NCAA Championships. The field features four Big 12 teams, three SEC teams and one Big Ten team.

Chelso Barrett (Sr.) -- 2016 PING All-America Honorable Mention; finished 13th at NCAA Championships; played in 2016 U.S. Amateur
Daniel Gurtner (R-So.) -- Redshirted last season, played in two tournaments for TCU in 2014-15; two-time Guatemalan Amateur National Champion
Jeong Weon Ko (Fr.) -- No. 147 in R&A World Amateur rankings; lone freshman in lineup; 2015 French Amateur Champion; played in 2016 European Amateur
Turner MacLean (So.) -- Played in 2016 U.S. Amateur; played in seven tournaments for TCU last season
Pierre Mazier (So.) -- One of two players in this lineup (Barrett) that played at NCAA Championships last season; played in 2016 European Amateur
Stefano Mazzoli (So.) -- No. 66 in R&A World Amateur rankings; played in 2016 Open Championship (British Open); was only current college player in Open Championship field; played in 2016 European Amateur
TCU Notables
- The Frogs are opening their season at the Carmel Cup for the third straight season. TCU finished third in 2014 and sixth in 2015.
- The Frogs finished 2015-16 strong as they tied for 15th at the NCAA Championships after finishing second at the NCAA Albuquerque Regional.
