Heckendorn was on fire in TCU's 6-0 win at Lamar last week. The junior from Flower Mound, Texas helped the Horned Frogs get out early as she made a strong cross feed to the far post to find Michelle Prokof, who was waiting to head it in. The duo teamed up again in the second half when Heckendorn found a wide-open Prokof for her second of the game.
Just over eight minutes later, Heckendorn found the back of the net for her first goal of the season and 10th of her career. Heckendorn's two assists were the 10th and 11th of her career. She is now tied for ninth on TCU's all-time list.
The undefeated TCU soccer team (3-0) will open its 2016 home schedule Friday, Sept. 2 when it hosts Illinois. Game time at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
Mikals, a native of Colleyville, Texas, provided dominant support for her team to open the 2016 volleyball season as the Frogs captured the TCU Invitational crown after going 3-0 through the weekend.
Mikals earned MVP honors for the first time in her Frog career as she paced the team with 29 kills, 2.64 kills per set, 36 total digs, 3.27 digs per set and 1.00 blocks per set over the course of three matches. 16 of Mikals' 29 kills came against Arkansas State, while 16 of her 36 digs were recorded against North Carolina State.
TCU will hit the road for the first time this season by traveling to North Carolina to take on Duke and UNC. The Frogs will face the Blue Devils on Friday at 5:30 p.m., before facing the Tarheels on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
