IRVING, Texas -- TCU has been picked second in the Big 12 Media Preseason Football Poll announced Thursday by the conference office.
The Horned Frogs received two first-place votes and a total of 222 points, trailing only Oklahoma (258). TCU is 23-3, including a 15-3 mark in the Big 12, over the last two seasons.
Not including six starters (four defensive, two offensive) who suffered season-ending injuries a year ago and return in 2016, TCU returns 13 starters (seven defensive, six offensive) from last year's 11-2 team that finished seventh in the nation after its 47-41 triple-overtime victory over Oregon in the Valero Alamo Bowl.
The Horned Frogs begin camp Aug. 3 with the season opener Sept. 3 versus South Dakota State at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
