Scherer Earns Olympic Berth

To earn an invite, competitors had to hold a Minimum Qualifying Score in the event. Those scores were fired at international competitions and are required for Olympic participation.
Alumns Scherer, Sarah Beard and Hannah Black were joined by current Horned Frog Mindy Miles at the event held at Camp Perry in Ohio. Scherer and Beard were two of the four competitors who qualified for the finals all three days.
Scherer medaled all three days, finishing first in one final and second in the other two. She was the leader after day one and carried it through the remaining two days. Her performance garnered her one of the coveted spots on both the air rifle and smallbore team bound for Rio. She shot air rifle in the 2012 London Olympics, where she turned in a seventh-place finish.
Miles qualified for two finals and took third place in both en route to a fifth place finish. Beard came in sixth, while Black posted a 10th place finish.
