TCU Takes Game One at Penn State, 6-2

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- No. 10 TCU rode a seven shutout innings from Brian Howard to a 6-2 win over Penn State in game one of a Saturday doubleheader.
The Rundown
Brian Howard (6-2) was brilliant for seven innings, limiting Penn State to just four base runners while he was on the mound. He allowed four hits and struck out four in the win.
Elliott Barzilli's seventh home run with one out in the second put the Frogs in front, 1-0.
TCU added to its lead in the third, scoring twice on two hits and two walks. Back-to-back singles from Austen Wade and Cam Warner had runners on the corners with one out. After walk to Evan Skoug loaded the bases, Luken Baker worked a seven-pitch walk to make it a 2-0 game. Josh Watson legged out a potential double play ball to drive in the second run in the inning.
Three more runs crossed the plate in the fourth as the Frogs sent nine men to the plate. Dane Steinhagen doubled with one out, moved to third on an errant pickoff throw and scored on a wild pitch. Singles from Warner and Skoug drove in two more runs to put TCU on top 6-0.
Penn State cracked the scoreboard with three hits in the eighth inning. A two-out single from Jim Haley made it a 6-1 ballgame.
The Nittany Lions made more noise in the ninth as they brought the tying run to the plate with two outs. A base hit and a pair of two-out walks loaded the bases. Ryan Sloniger pulled Penn State with four, 6-2, with an infield single. Durbin Feltman came on and got Nick Riotto to strikeout for his fourth save of the season.
