OKLAHOMA CITY -- Kody Clemens' walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth gave Texas a 2-1 victory over TCU in game one on Saturday.
The Rundown
TCU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first. Austen Wade opened the game with a base hit and made it to second on an error in left. Evan Skoug's ground-rule double put the Frogs on top.
The Horned Frogs had base runners in two of the next four innings, but couldn't extend their lead.
Jared Janczak turned in a solid performance on the mound. He pitched out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the third. He got Tyler Rand to ground into the inning-ending double play.
Texas tied the game in the fifth as it took advantage of a lead-off double from Bret Boswell. A one-out single from Jake McKenzie tied the game. With runners on the corners, Janczak again came up huge with a pair of strikeouts to keep the game square at one.
TCU's bid to regain the lead in the sixth died in the glove of the third baseman. Josh Watson tripled with two outs and Elliott Barzilli scalded the ball down the third base line, but a diving stop and throw to first ended the inning.
Texas had a lead-off double in each of the seventh and eighth innings, but couldn't get the run in. Guillory struck out two in the seventh and Dalton Brown got a pair of strikeouts in the eighth to leave the go-ahead run 90 feet away.
