TCU Drops Opener At Baylor, 4-3

WACO, Texas – A seventh-inning run by Baylor stood up as the game-winner as TCU dropped a 4-3 decision to the Bears Friday night in the series-opener. Connor Wanhanen and Cam Warner combined for seven hits.
The Rundown
Baylor and TCU battled back and forth for the majority of the game, but it was the Bears that came up with the final response, scoring the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh. A lead-off double from Steven McLean came around to score on a base hit from T.J. Raguse.
TCU tried to mount a two-out rally in the eight after Dane Steinhagen worked a walk and Connor Wanhanen reached with his fourth hit of the game. Baylor reliever Joe Heineman got a foul out to strand the tying run at second.
The Horned Frogs opened the scoring in the first. Austen Wade worked a lead-off walk and moved to second on a Cam Warner base hit. With the bases loaded, Josh Watson hit a sacrifice fly to deep center, giving TCU the 1-0 lead.
Baylor rallied in the third with two runs on three hits. A two-out triple from Kameron Esthay put the Bears on top 2-1.
TCU answered right back with a two-out run in the fourth. Ryan Merrill singled with one out and scored on a Wanhanen double to make it a 2-2 game.
Again, Baylor responded in the next half inning. A lead-off single eventually scored on a two-out wild pitch. The Bears returned the favor, helping TCU tie the game at three in fifth. Warner's third hit of the night started the frame and he eventually came around to score on a wild pitch.
Brian Howard started and allowed three runs on six hits in the no-decision. Preston Guillory (2-2) was charged with the loss after giving up a run on two hits in 2/3 of an inning. Ryan Burnett retired all four batters he faced.
Stat of the Gamev 4 – Connor Wanhanen posted his first four-hit game of the season and the third on his career.
