FORT WORTH -- Fellan McGuigan of men's track and field and Seda Arantekin and Caroline Wegner of women's tennis have been named TCU's Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week based on impressive performances.
McGuigan, a native of London, England, broke the hammer throw school record by nearly six feet at the Jim Click Shootout in Tucson, Ariz. on Saturday. His mark of 211 feet, 6 inches (64.47m) bettered his previous best of 205 feet, 7 inches (62.66m), giving him the best mark in the Big 12.
McGuigan's effort is ranked No. 7 on the NCAA Division I West Outdoor Qualifying List. Throughout the season so far, McGuigan has broken the hammer throw TCU record on three occasions.
The No. 34 pair Arantekin and Wegner downed Blair Shankle and Theresa Van Zyl of Baylor, 6-2 in doubles competition last week. Arantekin would also go on to earn a victory over Kelley Anderson (6-2, 0-6, 6-1).
Against Texas, the duo upset the No. 11 squad of Breaunna Addison and Danielle Wagland, 6-1, for the pair's second win this season over a ranked foe.
Up next, the women's tennis team will take a road trip to the state of Oklahoma to face the Sooners on April 15, before traveling to Stillwater to take on Oklahoma State on April 17.
