Due to lightning and inclement weather, the meet was delayed for more than two hours, but that did not keep the Horned Frogs from flying down the track as both men's relay teams qualified for Saturday's finals.
"Overall, we weathered the storm, survived the delays and advanced to the finals" said director of track and field Darryl Anderson. "We ran well today."
The 4x400-meter relay team of seniors Joshua Washington, Ronnie Baker, Sam Watts and sophomore Kevin McClanahan posted the fastest time in the prelims, clocking in at 3:09.35.
In the 4x100-meter relay, a quartet of junior Raymond Bozmans, Watts, freshman Darrion Flowers, and Baker earned their spot in the finals with a fifth-place qualifying time of 40.39.
To conclude the day, junior Adam Damadzic advanced to the discus finals with a mark of 180-1 (54.88m). Against a competitive field, Damadzic then improved to 54.90m, placing eighth.
"I'm quite pleased with Adam's performance in his first meet of the season. We will continue to build and get better from here."
"In all, we put ourselves in a position for a good opportunity tomorrow."
The Frogs will return to Mike A. Myers Stadium on Saturday beginning at 1:30 p.m. with the 4x100 relay and women's discus. Live results will be available through MileSplit.
