FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU's Paul Barjon took home his second individual title of the 2015-16 season with a come-from-behind win at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, hosted by William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
The Frogs shot a final round 280, matching their second round total, to finish +15 for the tournament and third overall behind Penn State and Tennessee. The Frogs were just five strokes back of the second place Volunteers.
The Frogs finished in the top four for the third time in five matches, dating to their win at the Connecticut Cup to close out the fall season. It was the lowest consecutive rounds to close out an event for TCU this year at 280 in the second and third rounds, matching the 279-281 rounds to close out the Amer Ari Invitational.
Barjon finished seven-under par and posted his second win of the year while also setting a new tournament record for an individual. It is the second time this year he has won a tournament with a record score. Barjon's consecutive 66's are his best rounds of the 2015-16 season and one off his career best 65 from the 2014-15 season.
Barjon now owns three career wins and six career top five finishes as a TCU golfer.
Giulio Castagnara shot 71 on the final day and finished in a tie for 11th. After hitting an ace in the second round, Pierre Mazier shot 70 on the final day -- his best round of the week -- to finish in a tie for 21. Ryan Books (T-29) and Triston Fisher (T-39) closed out the TCU lineup.
It is the 39th year of the event, including 35th year at Kingsmill Resort and 34th on the River Course. The course has been a longtime host of the PGA and LPGA tours and is the current host to the LPGA Kingsmill Open. The field for the 2016 event includes Appalachian State, Binghamton, Dayton, Delaware, Drake, Eastern Kentucky, High Point, IPFW, Longwood, Loyola (Md.), Maryland, Ohio, Old Dominion, Penn State, Radford, St. Francis (Pa.), St. Joseph's, Seton Hall, Temple, Tennessee, TCU, Towson, host William & Mary and Youngstown State.
TCU has two events remaining before the Big 12 Conference Championships begin, TCU's first tournament of the year played in the state of Texas. TCU is seeking its 27th consecutive NCAA Regionals appearance this spring.
