FORT WORTH -- The TCU men and women's swimming and diving teams fell to the No. 1/4 Texas Longhorns on Friday night at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin.
"We gained a lot of racing experience today against the No. 1 ranked team in the nation," head coach Richard Sybesma said.
Sophomore Carlos Hunnicutt logged a season-best time of 3:55.90 in the 400-yard individual medley, placing first. It was his sixth first-place finish of the year.
Freshman Ally Robertson helped create the TCU sweep of the 400 IM events as she earned first at 4:27.11.
Junior Garrett Hills, who already earned an NCAA "B" cut time in the 100-yard butterfly this season, kept his momentum as he recorded a first-place time of 49.61 in the 100 fly on Friday. Hills now has eight first-place finishes on the year.
In the women's 3-meter dive, freshman Kelli Funk qualified for regionals after posting a season-best score of 307.50.
Junior Ashley Dyke placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:21.97.
The Horned Frogs will return to Austin for the Big 12 Championships on Feb. 24.
"Competing in the same pool where the conference meet will be held was very valuable for our team," Sybesma said.
