Frogs Open at Amer Ari Invite

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii -- TCU is tied for 8th and just four strokes out of the top four after the opening day of the 25th annual Amer Ari Invitational at Waikoloa Beach Resort on the Waikoloa Kings' Course.
The Frogs shot two-under par as a team on the opening day of competition at the event to begin spring play and are just four strokes behind Oregon and Oklahoma State for fourth place in the event. Fifth ranked Stanford and seventh ranked USC are currently tied for the lead at 10-under par.
The Frogs are currently ahead in the tournament standings of two teams ranked in the top 10 nationally in No. 1 Auburn and No. 9 Arizona State.
Paul Barjon, coming off an individual crown at the Connecticut Cup to end the fall season, opened his tournament with a three-under par performance, shooting a 69. He hovered as low as four-under par during his round before settling in with a tie for eighth place after the opening round at three-under. His round included five birdies, including a two on the par 3 11th hole.
Steffano Mazzoli, making his TCU debut, and Giulio Castagnara are at even-par through 18 holes while Chelso Barrett and Sarosh Adi both shot one-over par for the round.
The Frogs combined to post 18 birdies on the day and were solid throughout, only posting one double bogey among the five players who count towards TCU's tournament score.
The 19-team event includes teams from the Pac 12, Southeastern Conference, ACC and Big 12 Conference, among others, continues on Friday and concludes on Saturday following three rounds of play.
