
Purple Wins World Series

FORT WORTH - Cam Warner's two-out single in the eighth inning broke a 3-3 tie as Purple rallied for a 4-3 win to clinch the annual Purple-White World Series title.
Elliott Barzilli had a solid day at the plate for Purple, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Warner produced a two-hit contest, while Connor Wanhanen drove in two runs. Austin Boyles pitched three innings, followed by a scoreless frame from Charles Green. Cal Coughlin retired all three batters he faced, while Dalton Brown worked around a two-out hit. Durbin Feltman recorded the save with a pair of strikeouts in the ninth.
For the White team, Luken Baker went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run. Jake Eissler turned in three solid innings on the mound, picking up four strikeouts in three innings pitched. Drew Gooch, Sean Wymer and Jared Janczak each tossed a pair of innings.
The game marked the conclusion of fall practice. The regular season gets underway Feb. 17 when the Horned Frogs host Penn State.
