FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's cross country team has been ranked eighth in the latest edition of the South Central regional rankings by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), it was announced Monday.
This marks the best position for the Horned Frogs since they were ranked No. 8 during the 2010 season. They were ranked ninth last week.
The team has steadily climbed the rankings this year as they've put up noteworthy performances throughout the season. The Frogs recorded a third-place finish at the 28th annual Chile Pepper Festival and placed second at the Ken Garland Invitational. Both efforts marked program bests at the meets for TCU. The team is most recently coming off a 10th-place finish at the NCAA Pre-National Invitational. Sophomore Brenley Goertzen led the team with a career-best 6K time of 21:25.7, placing ninth.
The Frogs have an open week this week but are set to return to the trail on Oct. 29 for the Big 12 Championships in Lubbock, Texas.
