AUGUSTA, Ga. -- TCU's Adam Nunez has been added to the watch list for the Ray Guy Award, presented annually to the nation's top punter.
The Ray Guy Award is named after the Southern Miss great and Pro Football Hall of Famer who was the first punter drafted in the first round (Oakland Raiders, 1973).
In his first season as a starter, Nunez is averaging 41.8 yards per attempt for the Horned Frogs' best mark since 2012 and third-best clip dating back to 2002.
Nunez has placed eight punts inside the 20 with just one touchback. The redshirt freshman from Houston has three punts of at least 50 yards, including a career-long 56-yard effort at Kansas. Opponents are averaging just 5.1 yards per punt return.
