FORT WORTH – Another solid effort on the range helped the TCU women's rifle team improve to 10-0 on the year after a win over Coast Guard on Sunday.
TCU turned in a solid effort in both disciplines, firing a 2,330 in smallbore followed by a 2,369 in air rifle for a team score of 4,699.
Mindy Miles was once again the match's top shooter as she tied her personal best of 1,181, a feat she accomplished in the Frogs' last match against Ohio State. Her first place finishes in air rifle (596) and smallbore (585) helped lead the Frogs to victory.
All four counters in smallbore fired a 580 or better. Rachel Garner turned in a 583 to finish second. She has fired a 580 or better in every match this season. Right behind her was Sally Li with a 582. Rounding out the top four was Nicole Hankey with a 580.
Three of the four counting scores in air rifle were 590 or better as the Frogs turned in a solid mark in the discipline. Along with Miles' top mark of 596, Li tied her season-high with a score of 594. It marks the fourth time this season Li has achieved that mark. Hankey finished third with a 590 followed by Hannah Black's 589.
Li's aggregate score of 1,176 tied her personal best for the season as she finished second among all shooters.
While not factoring into the team score for either discipline, Ariana Grabowski put together a solid day on the firing range. She shot a 583 in smallbore to finish third among all shooters. She added a season-best 588 in air rifle for an aggregate score of 1,171, also a season-best.
Alexandria Harrington was the top shooter for Coast Guard as she fired a 563 in smallbore and a 581 in air rifle.
TCU remains home next weekend as it plays host to the third annual Patriot Rifle Conference Tournament. The two-day event starts Saturday, Feb. 6.
