The California native earned tournament MVP honors and led her team to a weekend sweep in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Classic, in New Orleans, La. Pickens finished the weekend with a team-high 25 kills, 2.78 kills per set to go along with a staggering .512 hitting clip.
The Frogs have now moved to (8-1) on the season and will travel again this weekend to Dallas for the SMU Doubletree Invitational where the Frogs will face Clemson, UTSA, and tournament host SMU.
Howard stepped up at the linebacker position in the Frogs 70-7 rout of Stephen F. Austin in their home opener.
The sophomore linebacker led the defensive effort with nine tackles, three tackles for a loss, and a forced a fumble late in the second quarter.
The No. 3 Horned Frogs moved to (2-0) on the season and won their 14th straight home opener under Gary Patterson. The Frogs will take on cross-town rival SMU in the annual Battle for the Iron Skillet on Saturday, Sept. 19.
