FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU track and field announced new assistant cross country and track and field coach Jennifer Fazioli on Monday.
Fazioli comes to TCU after a successful run as the head cross country coach at Virginia Military Institute. Fazioli headed the team for two years and during the 2014-15 season, the Keydets earned their third regional ranking ever. Fazioli also saw the men's cross-country team finish third at the Southern Conference Championships last year.
"We are very excited to start this new journey with Jennifer," head coach Darryl Anderson said.
In Fazioli's first year at VMI, she coached athletes who went on to break four school records -- including freshman Kelsey Newcomb who broke the school record in the 800-meters.
Prior to arriving at VMI, Fazioli served as the assistant cross country and track coach at the University of Albany for three years. Fazioli was also the recruiting coordinator during her time there and helped build a men's team that swept the IC4A titles during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. For her work during that span, she was recognized as part of the two-time America East Coaching Staff of the Year.
Fazioli began her coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Delaware before spending a year as the assistant compliance coordinator at Oregon State University. Fazioli graduated with honors from the University of Colorado in 2002.
While in Boulder, Fazioli was a member of the 2000 NCAA Cross Country Champions, and in 2004, she was the youngest qualifier for the 2004 Olympic marathon trials. Fazioli also earned recognition as a four-time member of the Big XII All-Academic Team.
TCU opens the 2015-16 cross country season on Sept. 1 in Waco, Texas.
