FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU men's golf program has released its 2015-16 schedule, head coach Bill Montigel announced on Wednesday.
The Horned Frogs will travel to eight states during its 10 regular season tournaments, including three trips to the state of California. The slate includes four events during the fall season and six events during the spring schedule as the team prepares for play in the Big 12 and NCAA Championships.
"We are excited about our 2015-16 schedule," said Montigel. "Coming off a strong finish at the NCAA Championships last year and our highest finish in the Big 12 Championships, we have an extremely competitive schedule again this year."
TCU has reached the NCAA Regionals in 26 consecutive seasons under the leadership of Montigel. The eight-time conference champion coach has helped lead TCU to a top 10 national finish at the NCAA Championships twice in the last seven seasons.
TCU opens the season on Sept. 4-6 when it travels to Pebble Beach, Calif., to participate on the Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach Golf Links, the site of six major championships -- including five U.S. Open Championships and a PGA Championship. Last season, the Horned Frogs finished third in the event, shooting six-under-par for the tournament to open their 2014-15 season.
TCU continues an early west coast swing by traveling to Albuquerque, N.M., and Eugene, Ore., to participate in the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on Sept. 25-26 and the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational on Oct. 4-6.
The Horned Frogs round out the fall with a trip to Stoors, Conn., for the Connecticut Cup at Ellington Ridge Country Club.
In all, the Horned Frogs are making consecutive appearances in three of the four fall tournaments they have entered.
TCU opens the spring season on Feb. 4-6 with a trip to Hawaii for the Amer Ari Invitational at the Waikoloa Kings Course in Waikoloa. TCU posted an impressive, season-best 32-under-par team card a year ago in the event, placing fifth of 18 teams. Before the calendar turns to March, TCU will take to the course in Palm Desert, Calif., for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at The Classic Club.
TCU travels to Las Vegas, Nevada for the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters at Southern Highlands Golf Club on March 7-9 before heading to the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate in Willamsburg, Va., on March 20-22.
TCU closes out the regular season with a pair of events in April, traveling to the Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash., on April 4-5 and the El Macero Classic at El Macero Country Club in El Macero, Calif., on April 15-17.
The 2016 NCAA Regionals will be held at six sites across the nation, including the Ol' Colony Golf Complex in Tuscaloosa, Ala., the Gallery Golf Club in Tuscon, Ariz., the Blackwolf Run Meadows Valley Course in Kohlen, Wis., the UNM Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque, N.M., the Karsten Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla., and the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Nashville, Tenn.
The 2016 NCAA Championships will be held May 27-June 1, 2016 at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.
The Horned Frogs return three of the five golfers that represented TCU in the 2015 NCAA Championships including senior Paul Barjon, junior Chelso Barrett and junior Giulio Castagnara. The trio helped TCU secure a top 10 finish at the 2015 NCAA Championships.
