FORT WORTH, Texas -- Defending Big 12 champion TCU is ranked No. 2 in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll through USA Today.
The Horned Frogs return 15 starters, including 10 on offense, from last year's 12-1 squad that concluded the campaign with a 42-3 win over Ole Miss in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
The No. 2 ranking marks TCU's highest appearance in a preseason poll in program history. The Horned Frogs were No. 7 in the 2010 Preseason USA Today poll. TCU's highest preseason ranking by the Associated Press was No. 6 in 2010.
The Horned Frogs are the preseason pick to win the Big 12. The last two times TCU was predicted to win a conference was in 2009 and 2010. In both years, TCU completed an undefeated regular season in reaching the Fiesta Bowl and Rose Bowl, respectively.
TCU opens its preseason camp on Tuesday with the first practice set for Wednesday.
