TCU stretches its Big 12 winning streak to 10 straight and its overall winning streak to eight games. The Frogs have not lost a weekend game since dropping the series finale to Kansas State on April 12.
Similar to Thursday night's contest, the Frogs found themselves facing an early deficit. Craig Aikin led off the Sooner first with a base hit to center. With two outs, Anthony Hermelyn hit a two-run home run to left to put the Sooners on top.
Jeremie Fagnan led off the fourth with his third home run of the season to cut the Sooner lead in half. With one out, Evan Skoug looped a single into right field. Brown muscled the ball over the left field fence for his first career home run, a two-run shot that put the Frogs in front 3-2. Derek Odell made it back-to-back jacks as he followed with his third home run of the season to push the lead to two, 4-2.
TCU added a run in the fifth without the benefit of a hit. Fagnan worked a lead-off walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. With one out, Fagnan was standing on third and scored easily on a Skoug ground out for a 5-2 lead.
A lead-off error in the bottom of the fifth proved costly as the Sooners tied the game. Following the miscue, Joshua Ake doubled to put two in scoring position. Aikin blooped a single into right field to drive in the first run of the inning. A Taylor Alspaugh ground out cut the Frog lead to one, 5-4. With two outs, Hermelyn bounced a single up the middle to tie the game.
TCU wasted little time regaining its lead. Four straight one-out hits helped the Frogs open up a 7-5 lead. Keaton Jones put the Frogs back on top with a line drive to left center that drove in Odell. Cody Jones ripped a single through the right side to push the lead to two.
Oklahoma fought back to tie the game in the sixth. A pair of two out hits had the Sooners in business. Aikin delivered a two-run double to right center to tie the game.
The Frogs responded with a two-out run of their own to regain the lead. Skoug singled with one out and stole second. Brown doubled to left-center with two outs to put the Frogs back in front 8-7.
For the second time in the game, the Frogs sent nine men to the plate in the eighth. With the bases loaded and two out, Skoug was hit by a pitch to drive in a big insurance run. The lead grew to four, 11-7, on a Dane Steinhagen base hit.
Oklahoma made it interesting in the ninth as the first two batters reached on a double and a walk. Riley Ferrell came on and retired the first two batters he faced. A walk loaded the bases and Robert Tasin lined a single up the middle to pull the Sooners within two, 11-9. Ferrell got a ground out to lock up his 14th save of the season.
Preston Morrison started and allowed seven runs (five earned) on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out four. Drew Gooch (1-0) picked up his first career win as he retired the final batter of the sixth inning. Brian Howard was touched for a pair of runs on two hits in two innings of work.
With the victory, TCU improves to 42-9 overall and 17-5 in Big 12 play. The Horned Frogs will go for the fifth straight series sweep Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale. Game time against the Sooners is set for 2 p.m. The game will be televised on FSSW+.
