Quotables on the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational
TCU Director of Track and Field Darryl Anderson
"Going into SEC country is always exciting. We're looking forward to the challenge. This weekend we're going to leave some people at home. Cameron Echols-Luper and Sam Watts aren't going to go. We want to make sure that they're situated with the things that need to be taken care of at home this weekend. We'll pick them back up next weekend at our home meet. We'll take 13 guys and 10 girls and see if we can get some additional regional qualifying marks. That's the objective as we move forward for this weekend, next weekend and the Big 12 meet."
Coach Shawn Jackson
"This is a good meet for us to go down to Florida and compete against some SEC schools. Some of the top kids in the country are going to be there. It's a big time meet with big time kids and we're looking forward to the challenge."
Coach Kevin Henderson
"Another meet with big expectations. It's getting into crunch time. We have to make sure everybody is ready and on the same page leading up to Big 12's. It's another opportunity to run against SEC schools in a high-caliber meet. We'll see some of the best kids from the SEC and get in the mix and see how it shakes out."
Last Time Out
A severe band of thunderstorms brought the Michael Johnson Classic to an early finish, but not before the Horned Frogs were able to put two wins on the board, as well as a plethora of personal and seasonal-bests. In his first outdoor meet of the season, sophomore Cameron Echols-Luper picked up the win in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.44m (24-5). The Horned Frogs went 1-2 in the event as senior Ramone Bailey followed in second with a jump at 7.25m (23-9.5). Echols-Luper also helped lead the men's 4x100 relay team to a first-place finish (39.53) with sophomore Raymond Bozmans, junior Ronnie Baker and sophomore Kolby Listenbee. On the women's side, the sophomore quartet of Iphona-Clemence Paiement, Judy Emeodi, Tiffany Terry and Makaila Flannigan put together a third-place time of 45.27, the best in the event for the Horned Frogs this season. TCU put three in the top 10 of the men's 100 behind Baker (10.18), Bailey (10.43 - PR) and Bozmans (10.45). In the women's 1500 meters, freshman Arin Rice moved into No. 4 all-time at TCU with a time of 4:26.54. Terry (400 meters) and Paiement (100 meters) also had personal-bests at 53.61 and 11.68, in their respective events.

Who's Next?
TCU's rich history in the sprints division has produced seven athletes to have posted a time under 10 seconds in the 100-meter dash, the most of any university. The Horned Frogs look to bolster their lead on the rest of the pack this season, and almost added No. 8 with Baker's performance at the Texas Relays on March 28. Baker, the 2015 NCAA 60-meter Champion, recorded a wind-aided mark of 10.02 in the invitational section of the event, which was an all-conditions personal-best and was the fourth-best time in program history. Four other Horned Frogs who are on the doorstep of accomplishing the feat are sophomores Kolby Listenbee (10.12), Sam Watts (10.32) and Raymond Bozmans (10.42) and senior Ramone Bailey (10.43).
Knock Knock Knockin' on 38's Door
In only their second meet of the season, the men's 4x100 relay team posted a time of 39.15 seconds in Austin at the Texas Relays. It's the fastest time since the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships, when the Horned Frogs put up the same mark in the prelims to finish sixth and qualify for the finals. The mark moves them closer to TCU's all-time top 10 in the event, which starts at 38.80 set in 1991. The No. 1 time in TCU history is also the collegiate record, set in 1998, at a time of 38.04 seconds.
Thrice as Nice
The Horned Frogs have earned three victories in the men's long jump this season, all by different student-athletes. In the first outdoor meet of 2015, freshman Scotty Newton recorded the win at the rainy TCU Invitational. At the Texas Relays, senior Ramone Bailey flew to a victory with his top jump coming in at 7.39m (24-3). Last weekend at the Michael Johnson Classic, the reigning Big 12 Indoor Long Jump Champion Cameron Echols-Luper notched a mark of 7.44m (24-5) in his first outdoor meet of the year to grab TCU's third win in the event.
Etched In History
Miranda is the latest Horned Frog to rewrite the TCU record books, crushing the previous best in the women's hammer throw by over 18 feet. Her toss of 59.39m (194-10) topped Kelsey Samuels' mark set in 2013 53.85m (176-8) and earned her first at the TCU Invitational on March 19.
Ronnie Baker set the standard on the biggest state of the indoor season, at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the men's 60 meters with a time of 6.52 seconds. His NCAA championship time broke Kim Collins' record set on March 10, 2000, also in Fayetteville.
The first school record to fall in 2015 came in the women's distance medley relay at the Tyson Invitational. The team of Bailey Sullivan, Tiffany Terry, Anna Cozart and Arin Rice (three freshman and a sophomore), paced to a time of 11:42.32, almost eight seconds faster than the previous record set in 2001.
Seeing Gold
At the NCAA Indoor Championships, junior Ronnie Baker brought home the 60 meters crown behind a time of 6.52 seconds. It was the fourth consecutive year the program has registered an individual national championship and is the seventh under director of TCU track and field Darryl Anderson. It was the 20th national title in program history and is the second in the 60 meters, the other coming from Kim Collins in 2001. TCU is one of seven schools in Division I to have an individual win a national title in each of the last four years (2012, 13, 14 & 15).
