Men's Tennis Preview: Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas -- To cap off a historic regular season under the helm of head coach David Roditi, the No. 7 TCU men's tennis team will host No. 10 Texas on Saturday, April 18 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in the team's regular season finale.
The Horned Frogs (19-6, 2-2) will square off with the Longhorns (18-4, 2-2) at 1 p.m., with the match also serving as Senior Day for the five seniors -- Nick Chappell, Arnau Dachs, Facundo Lugones, Will Stein and Blake Wiggins.
Admission to the match is free for all fans, with those in attendance able to enjoy free popcorn from King Korn, free pizza from Buffalo Bros., and an opportunity to win free prizes throughout the match.
TCU Notables
TCU recently moved up to No. 7 in the recent ITA rankings, which is the highest under the direction of Roditi. The Frogs were able to topple then-No. 7 Texas A&M last weekend, 4-0, for the second time this season. The victory marked the third over a top-10 ranked opponent and sixth shutout of the season.
The Frogs have seven different players represented in the ITA singles and doubles rankings, with Nick Chappell and Cameron Norrie checking in both polls. Chappell is 18-6 on the season and No. 44 in the singles poll, while he and fellow senior Will Stein have 20 wins in doubles action and are ranked No. 21. Norrie has 19 wins and is ranked No. 43 in singles action, while also checking into the doubles poll at No. 27 with Trevor Johnson.
Guillermo Nuñez sits at No. 47 in the singles poll and leads the team with a 24-5 record this season. The freshman is a stellar 17-1 in dual matches and had a 19-match winning streak at one point this season. Senior Facundo Lugones is the final ranked singles player and returns to the poll at No. 121 and is currently riding an eight-match winning streak.
Scouting the Longhorns
Texas has dropped its last two of its last three conference matches with a 4-1 loss to No. 2 Baylor on Wednesday and a 4-1 defeat of No. 1 Oklahoma at the end of March. In between those losses, the Longhorns were able to score a win over Texas Tech (4-1) and shutouts of UTSA (4-0) and Texas A&M-Corpus Chrisit (4-0).
No. 5 Søren Hess-Olesen and No. 49 Adrien Berkowicz have each notched over 20 wins this season, with Hess-Olesen recording a 26-5 record and Berkowicz grabbing 27 wins. Hess-Olesen has 16 wins against ranked opponents this season, while Berkowicz has six. No. 48 Lloyd Glasspool is the final ranked Longhorn with 16 wins on the season.
The No. 23 pair of Glasspool and Hess-Olesen are the only ranked doubles pair and the duo lead the team with 14 wins on the season, including six against ranked opponents.
All-Time Series
TCU and Texas will be meeting for the 46th time in program history, with the Longhorns holding a 28-17 advantage in the series. Texas has won the last eight meetings dating back to 1997, with TCU's last win in the series coming in 1996 during Roditi's senior season as a Frog. TCU is 6-12 against the Longhorns in Fort Worth.
