TCU Opens Strong in Hawaii

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - The TCU men's golf team kicked off the spring season with a 6-under 282 in Thursday's opening round at the Amer Ari Invitational to place 10th in a talented field, just six strokes off the lead.
Sophomore Chelso Barrett carded the second-lowest round of his career with a 5-under 67 to sit in fourth overall following the first round, while junior Paul Barjon also shot under par with a season-low 3-under 69.
The Horned Frogs fired their second-lowest round of the 2014-15 season and enter Friday's second round in contention, just two strokes back of fifth spot in a field that features nine top-25 squads.
TCU sat atop the leaderboard midway through the opening round when Barrett, Barjon and senior Andrew Presley all eagled the par-5, 513-yard No. 4.
Senior Julien Brun led the Frogs at the turn after four birdies on the front nine before finishing with an even-par 72.
Presley and sophomore Giulio Castagnara rounded out the scoring with rounds of 74 and 76, respectively.
