Horned Frogs Host No. 58 New Mexico

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 17 TCU men's tennis team will play host to No. 58 New Mexico on Friday, Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m., at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
Admission to the match between the Horned Frogs (3-0) and the Lobos (4-4) will be free, with fans able to enjoy free pizza courtesy of Buffalo Bros. Fans can also take part in a prize court sponsored by Smoothie King and Barnes & Noble between the singles and doubles matches.
TCU Noteables
TCU is hosting a dual match for the first time since winning its ITA Kick-Off Weekend two weeks ago and defeating two ranked opponents. The Frogs posted a win over No. 10 Texas A&M in the opening round, 4-2, before shutting down No. 45 LSU, 4-1, to earn their way into the ITA National Indoor Team Championships for the first time since 2001.
The Frogs already boast five players with double-digit wins this season, with freshman Trevor Johnson holding a team-best 14-7 record in singles. No. 91 Will Stein follows closely behind with a 12-6 record, while No. 87 Guillermo Nuñez, No. 24 Cameron Norrie and Trey Daniel all have 10 singles wins.
The senior doubles duo of No. 20 Nick Chappell and Stein lead the doubles action for TCU with 12 wins on the season and a team-best five victories over ranked opponents. The No. 15 freshmen pair of Norrie and Johnson have eight wins on the season and two wins over ranked opponents.
Scouting the Lobos
New Mexico enters the match on a two-match losing streak after dropping both matches at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend to No. 2 Oklahoma (4-0) and No. 56 Arkansas (4-2). The Lobos have posted a win over a ranked opponent, as the team defeated No. 41 Texas Tech, 4-1, in the season opener.
New Mexico will be playing without its No. 1 player and only ranked player, No. 41 Samir Iftikhar. Iftikhar is 8-3 on the season and 3-2 against ranked opponents. Bart Van Leijsen leads the Lobos in singles wins with nine on the season, while James Hignett and Rodolfo Jauregui both have eight singles wins on the season.
Hignett and Van Leijsen team up to have the most wins in doubles action for New Mexico with a 7-2 record on the season.
All-Time Series
TCU and New Mexico will be meeting up for the 23rd time in program history, with the Frogs holding an 18-4 advantage in the series. The two competed as conference rivals from 2006-12 in the Mountain West Conference with TCU winning seven of the 10 matches played. The Frogs are 9-1 at home against the Lobos.
