McGovern Keys TCU's Strong Opening Round

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico -- TCU sophomore Kelly McGovern carded a 2-under-par 70 to lead the Horned Frogs into a tie for third place after Sunday's opening round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
TCU's 5-over 293 is just three strokes behind the 290 by leader Arkansas. Kent State is second at 291.
McGovern is four shots behind Iowa State's Chonlada Chayanun, who sits atop the leaderboard after a 6-under 66. A sophomore from The Woodlands, Texas, McGovern is tied for third individually.
All four of McGovern's birdies came on the back nine.
Kortnie Maxoutopoulis had a team-high five birdies for TCU, including three on the front nine, en route to an even-par 72. She is tied for eighth.
Emmy Martin and Alexandra Bonetti recorded a 75 and 76, respectively, for the Horned Frogs.
Martin shot par on 15 holes. Bonetti birdied three of her opening five holes.
