Rifle Heads To Ohio State

FORT WORTH – After a week off, the Rifle team returns to action with a road trip to Ohio State as the Horned Frogs will take part in the Buckeye Open. TCU will be the final team to compete in the two-day event that concludes on Sunday.
The Horned Frogs have climbed to No. 2 in the latest CRCA poll after turning in back-to-back scores over the 4,700 plateau. In it's last outing, the Frogs put up a score of 4,702 at Air Force. This season, the Frogs are 6-0 and have an average aggregate score of 4,694.
Sophomore Mindy Miles has dominated the air rifle field this season. Three times she has fired a 598, while her lowest mark on the season sits at 592. Equally consistent in air has been Hannah Black, who has fired a 593 on four occasions and is averaging a 590. Freshman Nicole Hankey and junior Sally Li also average a score of 590.
TCU has also excelled in smallbore, putting up a team average of 2,325. Black and freshman Rachel Garner set the pace with averages of 582. Li is nipping at their heels with a season average of 581.
Shooting with the Frogs on Sunday will be the seventh-ranked Buckeyes. Ohio State is coming off of firing a score of 4670 and placing fifth at the NCAA Championship Test Event held in Akron on Nov. 7.
