Rifle Set For Home Opener Saturday

FORT WORTH – The undefeated and fourth-ranked TCU rifle team is set to open its home schedule Saturday when they host Nevada. Fans will have the opportunity to watch the competition in the newly-renovated TCU Rifle Range.
The Horned Frogs have raced out of the gates with a fantastic start to the 2015-16 campaign. The Frogs have posted an average aggregate score of 4,690 this season. Leading the way is sophomore Mindy Miles with her 597 average in air rifle and freshman Rachel Garner's 583 average in smallbore.
The contributions for the Horned Frogs have come from all over the roster. Senior A pair of freshmen have splashed on the scene in Garner and Nicole Hankey. Garner paces the team in smallbore average, while Garner ranks second with her 591 average in air rifle. Hannah Black has a season average of 590 in air rifle with Sally Li right on her heels with a 589 season average. Black ranks second on the squad with her 582 smallbore average.
Nevada enters the weekend ranked No. 12 in the nation. The Wolfpack own a record of 3-1 with all four matches coming against top 20 teams. Their lone setback the season was a season-opening loss at Ohio State. All three victories have come against UTEP. They have posted an average aggregate score of 4632.
Emily Capaul has posted the top air rifle score this season after shooting a 597 against Ohio State. Mitchell Van Patten's 582 against UTEP is the top smallbore effort for Nevada. Van Patten has also posted the highest aggregate score with an 1166 against Ohio State.
