Rifle Scores Victory At The Citadel

FORT WORTH – The TCU women's rifle team continued its dominating start to the 2015-16 campaign with a victory at The Citadel on Sunday. The Horned Frogs are undefeated after three matches this season.
The squad built a sizable lead in smallbore, posting a team score of 2,316, while The Citadel shot just 2,151. The Horned Frogs capped the day with a team score of 2,362 for a final team mark of 4,678.
Freshman Rachel Garner was the match's top performer in smallbore, firing a 585. TCU as a team posted the top 10 scores on the day. Finishing second with a mark of 580 was Sally Li. Mindy Miles came in third after shooting a 576, tying the score fired by Nicole Hankey. Rounding out the top five was Hannah Black's mark of 575.
Miles once again dominated the air rifle circuit with a near-perfect score of 598. It's the second time this season, she's fired a 598. TCU boasted the top nine shooters in air rifle and 10 of the top 11. Hankey posted her second second-place finish of the season with a 591. Barrett Ray turned in her highest match finish with a third place showing after shooting a 588. Li was right behind in fourth with a 587, followed by Black's 586.
TCU will open its home schedule Saturday when it hosts Nevada in the newly-remodeled TCU Rifle Range. Nevada is ranked No. 12 in the latest CRCA poll released Tuesday.
