TCU Topples Ohio State After Huge Day

The Horned Frogs also swept the season series over their Patriot Rifle Conference rivals. TCU's 2,367 in air rifle tied for the fifth-best showing in school history, when the Horned Frogs won at Murray State on Nov. 6, 2011. The 2,327-point performance in smallbore tied for 10th, most recently occurring on Nov. 19, 2011.
Three TCU shooters posted air rifle scores in the 590s and three shot a 580 or better in smallbore to help lead the Frogs to their best aggregate score of the season.
Sally Li put forth her best performance of the season, which included career-highs in smallbore (587) and aggregate (1,180). The latter was the best of any shooter in the match as she also added a season-high 593 in air rifle. She had previously fired a 592 twice this season, the most recent also coming against the Buckeyes on Jan. 16.
TCU also saw another career-high reached in Katie Bridges. Her 580 in smallbore was her best since shooting 579 in consecutive matches on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1.
Mindy Miles fired a 595 in air rifle to lead all shooters. Combined with her 578 in smallbore, she finished second overall with an aggregate score of 1,173. Kelly Bogart shot a 588 to set a new career plateau for herself.
Hannah Black's 591-point effort was the sixth time she fired that score or better this season. She turned in the second-best mark in smallbore, shooting a 581 with 28 center shots. Black finished with a perfect string of 100 in her final 10 shots in the standing position.
Ohio State's top performers in smallbore were Deanna Binnie (581) and Mark Matheny (580). Drew Cheezum shot a 591 in air rifle to pace the Buckeyes, followed by Remington Lyman's 590.
TCU will return to the grind on Saturday for a match against Nebraska and Navy in Lincoln, Neb.
