FORT WORTH, Texas - Football's Joey Hunt and women's basketball's Zahna Medley have been named the TCU Scholar-Athletes of the Month for December for their work on and off the field.
Hunt, the starting center for the Horned Frogs, played a pivotal role in TCU's 55-3 win over Iowa State on December 6. The win gave the Horned Frogs 11 victories on the season and earned a share of the Big 12 championship. On December 31, Hunt anchored the TCU offense to its most points ever in a bowl game with a 42-3 rout over Ole Miss at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
Medley, a junior guard from Springfield, Ill., played in four games during the month of December. During that stretch, she led the team in points per game, averaging 18.3. She also posted a perfect free-throw percentage, nailing 17-17. Recently, Medley was named the Big 12 Player of the Week, the first of her career.
Medley and the women's basketball team travel to Lawrence, Kan., with a two-game win streak to face the Jayhawks on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m.
