TCU Moderator: Welcome to today's online chat with TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte. We'll begin shortly. |
| Thurston (Aledo): How about selling golf shirts for Go Purple Friday that would be nice enough for most to wear to work? May be a good way to support the Frogs and a way to raise some funds for the Frog Club. Thanks for all you do! |
Chris Del Conte: Have you checked out our online store on GoFrogs.com? We have some great Nike golf shirts. In fact, I own several myself. |
| AustinFrog: In the future can we please not request that the east side wear all white? OU fans travel and are going to stick out like a sore thumb on national television. |
Chris Del Conte: I understand your concern. The response through the opening two games to our color blocking has been phenomenal. We anticipate another strong effort by the TCU Horned Frog Nation next Saturday by wearing purple on the west side and white on the east side. |
| Ray (Colleyville): Why was the distribution of game programs changed this season.
The Event Staff doesn't know where they are being sold. I was unable to find a program for game 1, and it was the end of the first quarter before I found the sales booth for game 2. |
Chris Del Conte: I apologize. We hired an outside contractor to sell our game programs this season. They didn't fulfill their commitment and so we've made a change. You'll see some noticeable improvements in this area for the Oklahoma game. |
| Jeff (League City): What do we have planned to "Amp Up" our road entrance when TCU takes the field against the Ponies and at our away Big XII games? Is it possible for TCU to have the best road entrance of all college football? |
Chris Del Conte: You have a great suggestion. Unfortunately, the home team dictates all pre-game activities. If you notice, there's nothing for the visiting teams at Amon G. Carter Stadium. |
| Dino (Ft. Worth): CDC - What about having a live DJ on top of the Dutch Meyer Athletic Complex (where the white tent is currently)to amp up the crowd? Would look pretty cool on the video board and can amp up the crowd during breaks in action. |
Chris Del Conte: The white tent serves as a video area for both teams. However, having DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince up there would create a national buzz. |
| houston: hearing girls softball is on the docket. |
Chris Del Conte: I've also been hearing that rumor. For now, sand volleyball is our only new sport. |
| Alex: When the "Fear the Frog" banner comes out instead of using it in the middle of the game how about before the visiting team comes on to the field? That way us students don't have to worry about missing some of the game. |
Chris Del Conte: We chose the current time for the banner unveiling to maximize our TV exposure. |
| Amon (Fort Worth): I would like the phrase "Hell's Half Acre" be displayed on the stadium that is named after me. |
Chris Del Conte: Amon: It's always great to hear from you. We'll take your suggestion under advisement. |
| Daryll (Ft Worth: Why doesn't the university build a parking garage behind the stadium like they have at Virginia? |
Chris Del Conte: We do have a parking garage planned for Lot 5 next year. |
| Abilene: Has the bronze frog in front of the stadium been named? I submit Fearsome. Delia a fan for 70 years |
Chris Del Conte: The statue was a gift to TCU, made possible through a generous donation by three individuals. The Frog doesn't have a name, but I do like your suggestion. |
| Damon (Burleson): Will those that tailgate in Lot 5 still be able to after the conversion to a parking garage? |
Chris Del Conte: We're working on those details and will definitely have options for everyone. We'll keep you posted as we get things finalized for next year. |
| Jeff (League City): Are we to the point with SMU that we just play them only in Fort Worth only every couple of years like Grambling or Samford? I'm sure Joe T's, Fort Worth hotels, and the TCU bookstore would probably prefer having an extra home game every year against another FCS or Group of 5 school. That's big money for our community and another home tailgating opportunity. |
Chris Del Conte: Our football schedule contracts run through 2021. Our non-conference scheduling philosophy continues to be an FBS Power 5 opponent, an FCS and a home-and-home with SMU. After we conclude that period, we'll evaluate our future options. |
TCU Moderator: That concludes today's online chat with Chris Del Conte. Thanks for joining us. |
