Heckendorn Honored by Big 12

FORT WORTH - TCU women's soccer freshman Emma Heckendorn was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for her performance last week in two wins. The honor is the second of the season for TCU and the first for Heckendorn.
Heckendorn started and played 70 minutes in TCU's 1-0 win over previously undefeated Texas State on Friday. The freshman midfielder then collected her first career game-winning goal in the Horned Frogs' 3-1 win over Sam Houston State. She played 60 minutes in the contest and also scored a second time, registering her first career multi-goal effort. Heckendorn has two multi-point matches in her last three outings.
Previously honored this season for TCU was Vittoria Arnold on Sept. 9. She was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week.
TCU returns home for a Friday night match-up against Metroplex rival, SMU. Match time at Garvey-Rosenthal is set for 7.
