Opening Statement:
"Well we wanted to get to 2-0. We achieved that. We have some things that we want to work on and we have another off week ahead of us."
On the defensive line:
"I thought our tackles played really well, but I wasn't surprised by it. Those guys played against LSU, Oklahoma and the other Big 12 schools. Really the whole front played well. We rotated a lot of guys."
On Minnesota running back David Cobb and Coach Jerry Kill:
"We knew if we were going to stop Minnesota, then we had to stop Cobb. It was hard walking across that field, but I was glad I was on my side and not the other. Kill is a good man."
On Trevone Boykin:
"We have to make sure we're playing the system and doing the things we need to do. I thought the offensive line did a good job. We had a lot of scrambles from Trevone. If you're going to play coverages and draw people out, he's going to end up running on them. I'm a little disappointed because we have to play better on third downs and a lot of it has to do with penalties. Nobody is good on third and 12."
On Derrick Kindred's performance:
"Derrick is a guy who has been an opportunity guy. I've tried to slow him down and tried to get him to not do as much, because in this game we play a lot of good receivers. There's some awfully good ones coming down the road who can really play."
On Josh Doctson's performance:
"Doctson's a guy I put on scholarship. He just makes plays. He's one of those guys who is very serious about playing football. Obviously, we needed some guys to step up. Last week, Kolby [Listenbee] had a great game, this week it was Doctson.
TCU wide receiver Josh Doctson
On the route selection of his first touchdown catch
"It was [meant to be thrown in the far corner]. [Boykin] likes to lob it up to me sometimes. It's just wherever the ball is, make a play."
On Trevone Boykin's improvement
"He's always been good, but repetition [was good for him too]. Just practicing it every day with his wide receivers and practicing it every day to see what's good [has been his pattern]."
On if he feels the game makes him become the main target on the receiving corps
"Not really, I think all our receivers can be the guys. With the highs and lows of receivers across the board, anyone can [step up]. Everyone contributes."
TCU linebacker Paul Dawson
On how the defense was able to execute its game plan
"The scheme that Coach P has puts us in the best position to make plays. It's as simple as that. With linebackers, we just have to run to the ball every time and try to make a play. That's what I do."
On his thoughts heading into the game
"I got excited because I knew I could have a big game [against a running team]. I was going to have a lot of tackles. Everyone kept saying it was a big game. The goal was 30 tackles. That was my mindset, 30 tackles."
TCU safety Sam Carter
On wanting the shutout:
"It's a big deal. We want to be the number one defense. Not just in the Big 12 but in the nation. We're trying to stop everyone, but sometimes players are going to make plays and you just have to be able to bounce back."
On how fast TCU's offense scores:
"A lot of Big 12 schools do it, and we have the talent to do it. We just have to keep executing on third downs."
TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin:
On offense leaving a lot of plays out there:
"We really left a lot of points off the board. We were in the red zone a lot, and our goal was anytime we're past the 25, we want to be scoring. We have a good field goal kicker, but three points are not as good as six."
On confidence in Kolby Listenbee even after missing target a couple of times:
"We took some shots with Kolby. That's going to be an every week thing. He's probably one of the fastest guys you can see play on Saturday, so we're going to take a couple shots with him every time and either you win or you lose on it."
Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill
Opening statement:
"Disappointing for us. I compliment TCU and what they did today. Our kids played hard, but they turned over the football and that's what it really comes down to. I thought they played very, very hard and did some good things but, at the end of the day from TCU, they've always been good on defense. They are athletic, fast and they will be as tough as anyone we play, there is no question about that."
On the TCU program:
"We know a lot about the program and the players that are here. I know what kind of defense they have. It wasn't anything we didn't expect. We just didn't expect to play turnover football. But it's a good learning situation for us."
On first half and turnovers:
"Sometimes you just have games like that. We faced a tremendous amount of pressure today. It's one of those things. You've just got to compliment them. The speed of the game and the speed they played with caused a lot of that. It made us rush things and push things forward and things happen"
On QB Mitch Leidner:
"He was getting an extreme amount of pressure... He was banged up pretty good. He's a tough kid and I appreciate him playing hard as he can. But we've got to do a better job of protecting him and giving him better opportunity."
On Gary Patterson:
"I've known him a long time. He's a good football coach. He's done a hell of a job here. He's a great head coach, but I'll tell ya, he's one of the greatest defensive minds in all of football and always has been."
